Présentation du projet |
In this project we propose to experimentally investigate the distribution of rapidities of a 1D Bose gas with contact repulsive interactions. The rapidities are mathematical objects entering the Bethe- Ansatz many-body function describing those systems and their importance has been reinforced by recent theoretical developments on out-of-equilibrium dynamics. A method to access experimentally the rapidity distribution has been recently proposed. We propose to implement it on the atom-chip setup at LCF, and to improve it by adding a spatial selection scheme that will permit a measure of the local rapidity distribution. This breakthrough will open several new avenues, in particular for the investigation of out-of-equilibrium dynamics. Moreover, taking advantage of the fact that a single 1D gas is realized in the atom-chip setup, we will be able to investigate not only the mean rapidity distribution but also the fluctuations, unveiling important physical aspects of 1D gases. The quantum gas experiment will be set-up at LCF/IOGS (Atom-chip team), while the novel atom-chip will be developed and fabricated at C2N (PIMENT platform of C2N-RENATECH micronafabrication facility, and ODIN group in the Photonics Department). |
